Dear Mississippi NAACP: Shut Up (for once). LGBT is NOT a race

A Biloxi Sun Herald editorial board article makes it's case against the "Religious Freedom" Bill (HB1523). Of course I do not agree with them. but they are free to have their opinion. Where their editorial goes wrong is using the very flawed reasoning of the NAACP when they tie LGBT with race:

  • In retaliation for the backlash, the law's supporters are trying to drag race into the issue, saying a black business owner wouldn't be forced to cater to a Klan rally.
But the NAACP isn't buying it.
"It mirrors a sincerely held religious belief and moral conviction, once held by many and still held by some that African-Americans are only suited for slavery," wrote state NAACP President Derrick Johnson.

This is Mississippi which has along history of civil rights struggles. Because of that it never ceases to amaze me how every times there is some kind of controversy ion Mississippi that someone has to draw some kind of parallel with the African-American struggle for civil rights. And behind it a lot of the time is the Mississippi NAACP. Right now, the NAACP is driving the attack against Confederate history, the Mississippi state flag, and now a bill established for the simple protection of religious residents of Mississippi.
LGBT is NOT a race. It is NOT a racial issue. There isn't an ounce of science which makes anyone claiming to be LGBorT to be a race. No gene. The civil rights struggle was long, tragic...but noble. It's sad that the LGBT activists had to hijack the African-American civil rights movement. Even sadder that the NAACP had to comply. The LGBT battle is built on lies an hyperbole. Come on NAACP, you're cheapening your brand.
