Shorter Mayor Tony Yarber: Jackson Police Can't Help You so Shut Your Business Down

Granted, there's a lot of things that are happening on this story, but what Yarber and the Hinds County DA are suggesting is that the criminal issue isn't the failure of the police department, but the failure of the business to not be protected by the police department. Eh?

  • Jackson Police are beefing up patrols in the area of the Express Fuel store, a business some say is the focus of violence and criminal activity. Tuesday Hinds County D.A. took action to close the convenience store where Sunday's shooting injured a JPD officer. D.A. Robert Schuler Smith has filed a petition for a Temporary Restraining Order and preliminary injunction against Express Fuel with the Hinds County Chancery Court. Jackson Mayor Tony Yarber has joined the petition on behalf of the city. [WLBT]
